About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Anatomical Pathologist to join our team at Alberta Precision Laboratories Ltd.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct medical research on human disorders, illnesses, preventive or curative methods
- Refer patients for surgery and conduct microscopic and chemical analyses of laboratory samples and specimens
- Prepare research papers for publication and presentation, and study the nature, cause and development of diseases
- Supervise laboratory activities, act as consultants to other physicians, and order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures
- Assist with or perform autopsies and surgical specimen examinations under pathologists' supervision, and train resident pathologists and morgue attendants
- Supervise junior resident pathologists and morgue attendants, and manage a team of 16-20 people
Requirements:
- Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC)
- Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE I and MCCQE II)
- Specialty residency training in Anatomical Pathology
- Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification Examination
- Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities
Working Conditions:
- Fast-paced environment, work under pressure, and tight deadlines
- Physically demanding, standing for extended periods, and walking
- Combination of sitting, standing, walking, and manual dexterity
- Ability to distinguish between colours, and work in a large workload environment
