Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is a multi-site, province-wide laboratory providing comprehensive laboratory services. APL processes 30+ million tests, 260,000 surgical specimens, 200,000 gynecologic cytology specimens, and 10,000 non-gynecologic cytology specimens annually.
The successful candidate will join a team of over 95 laboratory physicians and scientists working mostly at acute care institutions within one of the largest groups of pathologists in Canada. Participation in a multi-site hematopathology on-call rotation is expected.
A key responsibility of the Pathologist will be to maintain the highest possible standards of practice, including prompt delivery of services to match established key performance indicators and provincial metrics. They must also actively participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency and expertise in flow cytometry and leukemia diagnostics. They should support both clinical and research initiatives and contribute to the development and validation of novel assays for the detection of minimal residual disease in Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).
A minimum of a MD with eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta is required. Certification in Hematopathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology with subspecialty Fellowship training and/or Certification in Hematopathology is preferred.
The remuneration package includes relocation allowance. The estimated annual salary range for a Laboratory Physician/Pathologist in Alberta is between $364,597 and $424,123 based on 209 days of service. Starting remuneration will be commensurate with the successful candidate's level of training and experience.
