Program Overview

The University of Waterloo is seeking a skilled Outreach Coordinator to join its team. This role will play a key part in developing and delivering programs that engage with elementary and secondary school audiences, aligning with the School of Accounting and Finance's outreach mandate.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Aid in planning, implementing, and evaluating outreach programs, including developing accessible programming for youth through partnerships with school boards, community organizations, and donors.
  2. Assist in creating programming that encourages engagement with equity-deserving groups, including Black and Indigenous school-aged children.
  3. Support the hiring and training of co-op students, aid in the development of co-op training initiatives, and ensure effective orientation and team building.
  4. Prepare programming content, build a schedule, and ensure programming is appropriate for the audience.
  5. Liaise with other Outreach Coordinators across campus for program delivery and source staff and volunteers as needed.
  6. Collaborate with the SAF Events Manager and Recruitment Coordinator on training and supervision of staff and/or volunteers.
  7. Document outreach programs and events, report on outcomes, and maintain records for marketing and future improvement.
  8. Set up and oversee program registration in WCMS and other registration systems.
  9. Communicate with internal stakeholders to fulfill programming requirements and meet SAF's mandate.
  10. Maintain awareness of curriculum updates, emerging technologies, and relevant thought leadership that could impact programs.
  11. Develop and use tools to assess the success of program activities.
  12. Ensure the safety of all program participants and staff, and maintain program/event budgets and cost tracking.

Qualifications

  1. Post-secondary degree or professional qualification in digital media marketing or a related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Demonstrated leadership experience in a classroom, camp, or similar environment.
  3. Experience with development and/or delivery of math/financial literacy activities.
  4. Experience with Google and Microsoft Office suite applications for sharing information and resources across platforms.
  5. Experience working with equity-deserving groups, including Black, Indigenous, girls/women, low socio-economic status, and those with accessibility needs.
  6. Strong time management and planning skills, and ability to work with diverse audiences.
  7. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to clearly articulate plans with stakeholders.
  8. Proven problem-solving skills and aptitude for finding creative solutions to problems.
  9. Motivated to identify areas for improvement and communicate ways to improve team performance.
