Job Description

University of Waterloo seeks a dedicated Graduate Transition Program Coordinator to join its team. This role is responsible for designing and implementing programs that support the successful transition of new graduate students into the university community.

About the Role

This position requires a strong understanding of the graduate student experience, with a focus on ensuring that incoming students receive the necessary support and resources to thrive in their academic pursuits.

The Graduate Transition Program Coordinator will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain integrated programs that cater to the unique needs of graduate students, particularly international students and under-represented populations.

Main Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and assess graduate student transition programming, ensuring initiatives are well-integrated and coordinated into the overall new student transition strategy;
  • Maintain knowledge of the needs of incoming graduate students and stay up-to-date on research, strategies, and initiatives in orientation programs and new student transition literature;
  • Develop and coordinate targeted programs and initiatives to ensure the successful transition of new graduate students for all three academic terms via virtual, in-person, or hybrid offerings;
  • Leverage resources, knowledge, and expertise in the SSO to assist in the design of transition programs when appropriate in partnership with the SSO leadership team and campus partners;
Qualifications
  • University degree required; Master's degree or equivalent experience in a related field (e.g., Leadership, Higher Education, Student Services) strongly preferred;
  • Demonstrated experience working in post-secondary student services with students, staff, and faculty;
  • Experience working with graduate students is preferred;
  • Volunteer management and student staff supervision experience – particularly in a student leadership capacity an asset;
  • A record of and commitment to participating in ongoing learning and engagement in the areas of equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, and accessibility;

Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000 per annum
