We are seeking a skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Strategic Development and Alumni Engagement Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact at the University of Waterloo, one of Canada's top universities.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to engage alumni and external stakeholders, while also supporting fundraising efforts. This includes coordinating special projects, stewardship activities, and customized plans for prospects and donors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing strategic plans to engage alumni and external stakeholders
  • Coordinating special projects, stewardship activities, and customized plans for prospects and donors
  • Working with internal staff to plan, coordinate, manage, implement, and evaluate strategic and successfully integrated alumni and development programs and activities
  • Providing oversight and peer support to co-op and work-study students involved in these activities, where applicable
  • Supporting industry engagement through implementation of sponsorship programs for Continuing Professional Development and student initiatives

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of progressive fundraising experience and relationship development
  • Experience with the full scope of development activities including identification, cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship at the major gift level
  • Experience with volunteer management and working with volunteers to support program development, advisory boards, and fundraising activity
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with all levels of staff, internal and external stakeholders
  • Hands-on experience with a relational fundraising database such as Raisers Edge/Blackbaud software

What We Offer

In return for your hard work and dedication, we offer a competitive salary of $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for career growth and development.

Location

This position is located in Waterloo, Ontario, and requires occasional travel within Canada and internationally.
