About the Role

The Iiyika'kimaat Program Facilitator plays a vital role in supporting the growth and development of Indigenous youth aged 12-21 years. This position requires a strong understanding of Indigenous cultural protocols and ways of knowing, as well as the ability to provide culturally relevant and leadership-specific components and activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work alongside the Indigenous Initiatives team to plan and implement creative programming that reflects cultural diversity in the community.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children and youth in the program, including group and/or individual behavior management and support.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities based on assigned core program area with a focus on the Circle of Courage framework, self-esteem, leadership, identity, and social skills.
  • Collaborate with the Indigenous Initiatives team to provide appropriate cultural experiences and referral supports to Indigenous youth and their families.
  • Train, support, supervise, and evaluate the work of volunteers and practicum students assigned to the program.
  • Maintain specific program and member statistics and ensure client records are regularly maintained, as well as perform other administrative duties as required.
  • Ensure all licensing and safety standards are met as per Government and CAC requirements.
  • Assist with recruitment and marketing of programs in the community, schools, and other relevant settings.
Requirements
  • Social Services education with recent and relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultural protocols and ways of knowing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn database systems.
  • Concise and clear communication (verbal and written) and problem-solving skills.
  • Up-to-date Standard First Aid and Level C CPR training.
  • Ability to provide a Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search and Child Intervention Record Check.
