Job Summary:

Shawenim Abinoojii Inc is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Resource Development Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing community-based programs and services that promote the well-being and resilience of children and youth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with community members, organizations, and stakeholders to identify and address community needs.
  • Develop and implement community-based programs and services that promote cultural awareness, traditional knowledge, and community engagement.
  • Research and apply for grants to support program development and implementation.
  • Provide regular program reports and updates to stakeholders.
  • Recruit and engage community members, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers to participate in program development and implementation.
  • Develop and deliver cultural-based training and workshops for children, youth, and families.
  • Collaborate with community resources, organizations, and stakeholders to support program development and implementation.
  • Host community events and activities that promote community engagement and well-being.
  • Practice inclusion and encourage community members to participate in events and activities.
  • Travel to communities as needed to support program development and implementation.
  • Utilize a strength-based approach to identify and address community needs.
  • Coordinate the purchase of food and supplies for community events and activities.
  • Actively participate in community resources social media pages.
  • Distribute notices of community-based events and activities.
  • Develop holiday and seasonal-based contests, events, and activities.
  • Ensure program outcomes, assessments, and service plans are current and up-to-date.
Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 education and experience in project development.
  • Satisfactory Child Abuse, Vulnerable Person check and Criminal Record check.
  • Valid MB class 5 Driver's license.
  • Proven ability to consult productively with collateral agencies and organizations.
  • Knowledge of community and family strengths and needs.
  • Knowledge of the Child and Family Services (CFS) sector and legislation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and/or understanding of Indigenous perspectives, First Nations culture, and traditional philosophies.
  • Knowledge of Child Development and Indigenous approaches to community-based care.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high attention to detail.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, word processing (MS Word), Spreadsheets (Excel), E-mail (Outlook), and Internet.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to speak Ojibwa language will be considered an asset.
  • Successful applicant will also be required to provide proof of at least the first two COVID-19 vaccination prior to start date.
