Job Summary

The Corporation of the Town of Ajax is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the role of Part Time Program Leader, Drop-In/General Programs. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning and implementing safe, enjoyable, and diverse drop-in programs and events, while assisting program instructors in assigned classes for children, youth, and adults.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development and implementation of a safe and enjoyable sports program under the supervision of the Community Recreation Coordinator, working in accordance with the Program Instructor.
  • Actively involved in leading/assisting all activities during program operation.
  • Provide leadership, support, and resource knowledge to volunteers.
  • Maintain program schedules and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Monitor the arrival and departure of participants from programs.
  • Work cooperatively and maintain ongoing and effective communication with participants, and the Community Recreation Coordinator.
  • Abide by the Town of Ajax Policies and act in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ensure that the necessary equipment and supplies are available, set up, and that such equipment and supplies are maintained in a safe condition.
  • Assist with general maintenance of program space (sweeping, litter control, etc.).
  • Promote an environment of safety and respect among participants in the program.
  • Create an environment that fosters a positive and inclusive program experience.
  • Perform administrative tasks necessary to support the program.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Community Recreation Coordinator or Program Instructor.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must be a minimum 16 years of age or older.
  • Previous experience working with a variety of ages in a recreational setting.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and planning skills.
  • Self-motivated, positive, confident, and approachable.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR C certification.
  • HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development certification.
  • Able to provide a current Criminal Reference Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) that is satisfactory to the Town (dated within last 6 months).

What We Offer

  • Rate of Pay: $17.99 - $19.56 per hour.
  • Hours of Work: This is a non-union position that works up to 24 hours per week. The hours of work are Sunday to Saturday, various shifts between 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
