Job Summary

The Corporation of the Town of Ajax is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the role of Part Time Program Leader. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning and implementing safe, enjoyable, and diverse drop-in programs and events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the development and implementation of a safe and enjoyable sports program under the supervision of the Community Recreation Coordinator.
  • Lead and assist with all activities during program operation.
  • Provide leadership, support, and resource knowledge to volunteers.
  • Maintain program schedules and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Monitor the arrival and departure of participants from programs.
  • Work cooperatively and maintain ongoing and effective communication with participants and the Community Recreation Coordinator.
  • Abide by the Town of Ajax Policies and act in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ensure that the necessary equipment and supplies are available, set up, and that such equipment and supplies are maintained in a safe condition.
  • Assist with general maintenance of program space.
  • Promote an environment of safety and respect among participants in the program.
  • Create an environment that fosters a positive and inclusive program experience.
  • Perform administrative tasks necessary to support the program.
Requirements
  • Must be a minimum 16 years of age or older.
  • Previous experience working with a variety of ages in a recreational setting.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and planning skills.
  • Self-motivated, positive, confident, and approachable.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR C certification.
  • HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development certification.
  • Able to provide a current Criminal Reference Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) that is satisfactory to the Town.
What We Offer
  • Rate of Pay: $19.56 per hour.
  • Hours of Work: This is a non-union position that works up to 24 hours per week.
