Part-Time Instructor for 55+ Programs and Events (Seasonal Opportunities)

The Instructor is responsible for the design and execution of engaging and secure programming tailored for older adults and seniors.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assists in fulfilling programming requirements in line with the established program framework.
  • Engages with participants promptly to facilitate program registration.
  • Adopts a personalized approach to enhance skill acquisition and development within various programs and special events, including those dedicated to Seniors Month.
  • Collaborates effectively and maintains consistent communication with participants and the Community Recreation Coordinator.
  • Ensures availability and safe maintenance of necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Responds appropriately to incidents, challenges, and emergencies, adhering to departmental protocols.
  • Cultivates an environment that promotes a positive and inclusive experience for all participants.
  • Encourages full participation, striving for excellence and skill enhancement among attendees.
  • Completes administrative duties essential for program support.

Required Qualifications/Skills

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in facilitating recreational programs for older adults/seniors, along with relevant leadership skills and a combination of training, education, and experience deemed equivalent.
  • At least 2-3 years of advanced experience related to program planning for general interest 55+ programming, gained through extensive participation and training relevant to this demographic.
  • Knowledge and experience in delivering recreational programs and services.
  • Experience working with older adults/seniors in a recreational context.
  • Current Standard First Aid certification with CPR-C certification is required.
  • Must provide a recent Criminal Reference Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) that meets the Town's standards.
  • Availability for a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends.

Employee Benefits

  • Compensation: $24.97 per hour.
  • Work Hours: This is a non-union role, with up to 24 hours of work per week, scheduled from Sunday to Saturday, with various shifts between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 p.m.
