Position: Part-Time Instructor for 55+ Programs and Events (Seasonal)

The Instructor is responsible for the planning and execution of engaging and safe programming tailored for older adults and seniors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in delivering program requirements as outlined in the program plan.
  • Maintain timely communication with participants regarding program registration.
  • Provide personalized support to enhance skill development and participation in programs and special events.
  • Collaborate effectively with participants and the Community Recreation Coordinator to ensure a positive experience.
  • Ensure availability and safety of necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies in line with departmental protocols.
  • Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants.
  • Encourage full participation and skill acquisition among attendees.
  • Complete administrative tasks to support program operations.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • At least 1 year of experience in facilitating recreation programs for older adults or relevant leadership experience.
  • 2-3 years of advanced experience in program planning for 55+ demographics.
  • Knowledge of recreation program delivery and services.
  • Experience working with older adults in recreational contexts.
  • Current Standard First Aid certification with CPR-C.
  • Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Reference Check.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.

  • Competitive pay rate of $24.97 per hour.
  • Non-union position with up to 24 hours of work per week, with shifts available from Sunday to Saturday.
