About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Health Care Social Worker to join our team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide a diverse range of interventions to clients and their families, enabling them to achieve their optimal level of functioning and health.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing psychosocial assessments, adjustment therapy, supportive therapy, crisis counselling, resource counselling, and discharge planning and case management
  • Advocating, educating, and collaborating with individuals and groups within the institution and community
  • Supervising undergraduate and graduate students in work placements
  • Providing consultation based on an advanced level of education, including an integrated knowledge of social, structural, emotional, psychological, and cultural factors that affect well-being

We are looking for a candidate with a Master of Social Work degree from a recognized university, registration and membership in the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers and Canadian Association of Social Workers, and two years of clinical experience as a Social Worker.

Preferred qualifications include knowledge of the fundamentals of human behaviour, experience in oncology, grief and loss, advance care planning, end of life, disability, crisis intervention, caregiving, and an in-depth understanding of the continuum of care.

Competencies in other languages are an asset, and advanced leadership training in working with people with developmental disabilities is preferred.

Hours
  • Long Assignment Full-time Position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Approximately 18 months
  • Hybrid Position: work from home with some travel to Yarmouth Regional Hospital as required
Compensation and Incentives

$37.31 - $49.05 Hourly
