The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Materials Technology Graduate to join our team in Waterloo. As a Materials Technology Graduate, you will work under the supervision and mentorship of our civil and geotechnical engineering professionals to complete quality assurance and quality control materials testing services on-site for various construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Completion of Quality Assurance and Quality Control materials testing services on-site for various construction projects.
  • Conducting compaction testing during site grading and backfilling operations, including sampling soil and aggregates for laboratory analysis.
  • Concrete and asphalt sampling and testing for various building and infrastructure projects.
  • Support field staff in investigative work including concrete coring, tensile bond testing, dowel testing, test pit investigations, and site data collection.

Requirements

  • Prefence for enrollment in, or graduating from, a civil, geotechnical, or engineering program.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service communication skills.
  • The capacity and willingness to learn new skills and testing procedures.
  • Access to a vehicle and possess a valid driver's license to carry out Site inspections.
  • Competent with the use of Microsoft Office suite, particularly MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Ability to lift and carry 23.7 kg (50 lbs).
  • Willingness to work a regular 40-hour work week and possible overtime up to a limit of 13 hours total per day.
  • Willingness to travel up to 200 km per day.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
