The Role
We are seeking a hard-working and motivated Materials Technology Graduate to join our team in Waterloo. As a Materials Technology Graduate, you will work under the supervision and mentorship of our civil and geotechnical engineering professionals to complete Quality Assurance and Quality Control materials testing services on-site for various construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Completion of Quality Assurance and Quality Control materials testing services on-site for various construction projects.
- Conducting compaction testing during site grading and backfilling operations, including sampling soil and aggregates for laboratory analysis.
- Concrete and asphalt sampling and testing for various building and infrastructure projects.
- Support field staff in investigative work including concrete coring, tensile bond testing, dowel testing, test pit investigations, and site data collection.
Requirements
- Prefence for enrollment in, or graduating from, a civil, geotechnical, or engineering program.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service communication skills.
- The capacity and willingness to learn new skills and testing procedures.
- Access to a vehicle and possess a valid driver's license to carry out Site inspections.
- Competent with the use of Microsoft Office suite, particularly MS Word and MS Excel.
- Ability to lift and carry 23.7 kg (50 lbs).
- Willingness to work a regular 40-hour work week and possible overtime up to a limit of 13 hours total per day.
- Willingness to travel up to 200 km per day.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
