Medical Office Assistant

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant/Clerk to join our team at Island Health. The successful candidate will possess a Grade 12 education and a Medical Office Assistant diploma, along with two years of recent experience in a healthcare setting.
Experience working with at-risk or street-involved populations is an asset.
Key Responsibilities- Work effectively in a fast-paced health centre environment, providing exceptional customer service and support to patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Organize and prioritize multiple tasks and work roles, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
- Contribute to an integrated administrative team, providing administrative support and expertise as needed.
- Communicate effectively using various communication channels, including phone, email, and in-person interactions.
- Typing speed of 50 wpm or higher is required.
- Proficiency in computer software, including word processing, spreadsheet applications, and clinical information systems.
- Ability to understand and apply medical terminology in daily work.
- Operate related equipment, such as printers, scanners, and medical devices.
- Meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, walking, and lifting.
- Follow detailed instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Exercise tact and diplomacy when interacting with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
