Job Title: In-House Legal Counsel

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced In-House Legal Counsel to join our team at Ignite Talent Solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to our clients, focusing on compliance matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Reviewing contracts and agreements, including providing legal advice on legal and regulatory matters.
  2. Managing external counsel relationships.
  3. Supporting the Chief Compliance Officer with all legal and litigation matters.
  4. Maintaining a strong understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including the Bank Act, privacy laws, FCAC regulations, B10, B20, E-13, and RCM guidelines.
  5. Supporting capital markets, securities, and advisory opportunities.
  6. Assisting with the development of policies and compliance matters.
  7. Providing training to staff on legal and compliance matters.
  8. Working closely with other departments to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
  9. Representing the Legal Department on special projects, new product proposals, and risk management initiatives, vendor contracts.
  10. Drafting, reviewing, and becoming familiar with applicable terms of use and drafting changes to such documentation and procedures when required.
  11. Advising on, drafting, and negotiating agreements with business clients.
  12. Assessing legal and reputational risk of new initiatives or changes to existing products and services.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require strong professional and academic credentials. You have a law degree from an accredited law school and are qualified to practice law in Canada. You have 2 years of experience practicing law. You possess superior analytical and communication skills in both legal and business settings, with the ability to work independently on multiple files and prioritize them effectively while meeting deadlines.
