Markham, Ontario, Canada Advanced Micro Devices Full time

We are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Counsel to join our legal team at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). As a key member of our team, you will provide expert legal advice and guidance on employment law matters in Canada, working closely with our HR, Ethics and Compliance, Health & Safety, and business unit leaders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide employment law guidance for the full employment lifecycle, including recruitment, employment contracts, and termination.
  • Offer statutory and other HR-compliance guidance in Canada, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with outside counsel and other team members to provide guidance on multi-jurisdictional employment law project areas, such as disability accommodation processes.
  • Support M&A activities in employment law areas as assigned, providing expert advice on employment law implications.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for clients and business groups on employment law topics of importance.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience as a practicing lawyer with in-house or industry-specific legal experience in Canada.
  • Progressive work history with in-house and/or private practice experience, providing legal counsel to clients for employment law matters in Canada.
  • Ability to partner with clients to provide practical solutions while mitigating risk, with a strong understanding of international employment law matters.
  • Comfortable working remotely with clients, colleagues, and business partners in the US and other international regions.

Academic Credentials:

  • Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD).
  • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
