Aviva Canada is seeking a highly skilled Corporate Counsel - Assistant Vice-President to join our corporate legal team. As a key member of our General Counsel office, you will provide first-class legal advice and support to the Aviva Canada business.

This is an exciting opportunity for a business-minded lawyer with a minimum of 8 years of post-qualifying in-house and/or law firm experience. You will have the chance to work with a highly collaborative corporate legal team and apply and further strengthen and grow your skills and experience in a broad range of corporate and commercial legal matters.

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge and experience in Canadian corporate and commercial law, with a demonstrated ability to manage projects, negotiations, and relationships. You will also have strong drafting and negotiation skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and support to the Aviva Canada business
  • Manage projects, negotiations, and relationships
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior management and executives
  • Contribute to the development of Aviva's corporate and commercial legal strategy
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in Canadian corporate and commercial law
