About the Role

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) is seeking a highly skilled Deputy Director to join our team. As a key member of our leadership group, you will play a critical role in developing and managing complex partnership programs, funding opportunities, awards, and special initiatives.

Key responsibilities include providing strategic analysis and expert recommendations and advice regarding program policies and the development of program terms and conditions, strategic integrated planning, reporting, and performance measurement activities. You will also be responsible for budget and financial data management, coordination of programs, and the development and implementation of appropriate policies and procedures.

In addition, you will develop outreach strategies and consultations with academic, government, not-for-profit, and industry sectors to promote multi-stakeholder partnerships, NSERC programs, and strategies. You will also represent NSERC on various government, academic, and other committees to gather intelligence, share insights, and best practices, and promote the Council's interests.

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from a recognized institution.
  • A degree in the natural sciences or engineering is considered an asset.
  • Experience in program management in a college, university, government, or industry setting and/or experience in working in a scientific or engineering environment.
  • Experience in strategic planning, strategic advice, and policy development.
  • Experience in project and/or budget management.
  • Experience in the management and supervision of direct reports.
  • Experience in providing advice and recommendations to senior management.
  • Experience in the private, public, or not-for-profit sector is an asset.
