About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Community & Youth Strategist to join our team at the City of Calgary. As a key member of our Community and Youth sections, you will play a critical role in providing strategic guidance, conducting research and analysis, and delivering consulting services to senior management and other teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Training Project Management: Organize and manage training projects to introduce new initiatives, enhance existing programs, or achieve strategic goals.
  • Project Planning and Integration: Identify project scopes, develop comprehensive project plans, and assist with the integration of Calgary Police Service partners, staff, and subject-matter experts.
  • Strategic Guidance and Planning: Provide planning expertise and strategic guidance on various areas, including business and strategic matters, project management, research, survey/feedback development, facilitation, program evaluation, performance measurement, and resource allocation.
  • Research and Benchmarking: Conduct research and benchmark to identify and consult with internal and strategic partners to define project scope, secure resources, and develop timelines, schedules, and task lists.
  • Training Program Development: Develop evaluation methods and create training programs that are aligned with the principles of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).
  • Staff Coaching and Development: Coach and mentor staff and provide feedback to team members on their presentations and training course deliveries.
  • Liaison and Collaboration: Act as a liaison between multiple internal departments within CPS and external organizations.
  • Best Practices and Community Engagement: Review literature to identify best learning and development practices and develop better connections with communities and youth.
  • Program Evaluation and Improvement: Examine findings and make recommendations to the senior leadership team to support the continuous improvement of current programs and initiate the work to develop new programs.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Social Science, Adult Education, Business, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; OR
  • A related master's degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience should include municipal leadership, strategic program development, coalition building, project management, systemic and organizational change.
  • Success in this position requires analytical thinking, change management, coaching and development, and efficiency and thoroughness. An effective communicator with a focus on results and the ability to build strong relationships.
