Waste Management Operator

Job Summary:

GFL Environmental is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Front-End Driver to join our team. As a Front-End Driver, you will be responsible for operating front-end trucks that provide services to a variety of multi-family residential and commercial routes, removing and transporting waste or recyclables in fulfillment of customer contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Satisfy Customer Needs: Ensure that service is completed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Pre and Post Trip Inspections: Conduct daily pre and post trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
  • Complete Daily Routes: Complete an assigned daily route as assigned by the Operations Manager, which includes driving to customer sites, setting lifting and emptying bins into the front-end vehicle, and returning the bin to the original location.
  • Transfer Waste: Transfer the waste to the appropriate station, landfill, or drop-off location.
  • Driver Check-Ins: Perform driver check-ins at day's end to ensure complete and accurate paperwork completion.
  • Safe and Timely Operations: Ensure that all routes are completed in a timely and safe manner.
  • Protocols and Procedures: Ensure that all protocols are followed while dumping loads at municipal recycling / waste facilities.
  • Additional Responsibilities: May be required to climb up ladder on truck to inspect loads, and may perform some additional responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Requirements:

  • Education: Completion of high school. Post-secondary courses or diploma would be considered an asset.
  • Experience: 1-2 years driving experience in the waste industry.
  • Skills and Competencies: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, strong customer focus, proven ability to multi-task & ability to prioritize tasks, knowledge of industry an asset, 1-2 years of driving experience in a DZ Front-End vehicle.
