Job Summary

The Nuclear Waste Management Organization is seeking a highly experienced professional to lead our Intermediate and High-Level Waste Management team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to manage and dispose of radioactive waste in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Supervise and mentor a team of professionals to ensure the successful execution of waste management projects.
    • Develop and implement business plans to meet organizational objectives and drive growth.
    • Make informed decisions that align with NWMO policies and procedures.
  • Technical Expertise
    • Develop and implement technical programs for long-term management of ILW and HLW.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop strategic planning initiatives.
    • Manage external studies and contracts to support waste management projects.
  • Communication and Engagement
    • Communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders to understand and resolve competing priorities.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with industry experts, universities, and other organizations to ensure best practices in waste management.
    • Represent NWMO at industry, regulatory, and public forums to present technical matters and results.
  • Qualifications and Experience
    • 4-year university engineering or science degree or equivalent level of experience.
    • More than 12 years of relevant leadership or subject matter experience.
    • Demonstrated project experience in nuclear field with preference for radiological waste management.
