Waste Collection Operator

We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Waste Collection Operator to join our team in Orangeville. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent driving skills, and a commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate residential/recycling side-load trucks on designated routes.
  • Load and compact waste and recyclables efficiently and safely.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles.
  • Maintain high standards of route quality and cleanliness throughout service areas.
  • Identify and properly tag prohibited waste items to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Supervise and manage assigned helpers, providing clear instructions and guidance (if applicable).
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of one year of experience operating DZ/AZ trucks within the waste industry.
  • A clean driving record with a demonstrated commitment to safe driving practices.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Meet all safety-sensitive function criteria as outlined by relevant regulations.
Skills:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of truck components and basic maintenance procedures.
  • Proven ability to maneuver trucks effectively in tight spaces and challenging environments.
  • Strong understanding of waste management practices and the ability to recognize unacceptable waste materials.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with colleagues, supervisors, and clients.
Working Conditions:

This role involves exposure to various environmental factors, including noise, weather conditions, mechanical parts, chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles. The work is primarily outdoors, requiring up to 100% of the time spent in an outdoor setting. You will also be working in motor vehicle traffic conditions.

Compensation:

Starting wage is $25 per hour.
