Job Summary

The Children's Aid Society of the District of Thunder Bay is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Director of Services. This position plays a critical role in supporting the implementation of the organization's Strategic Plan, focusing on promoting the safety, well-being, and advocacy of children, youth, and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advocacy and Support: Advocate for the rights of children and youth, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met.
  • Equity and Inclusion: Apply an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion lens to all services and programs, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
  • Service Development: Create and update protocols and service agreements to ensure high-quality service delivery, meeting the diverse needs of children, youth, and families.
  • Partnerships and Collaboration: Build and maintain effective and meaningful partnerships with community organizations, stakeholders, and service providers, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Social Justice and Advocacy: Integrate social justice principles into all aspects of service delivery, promoting a culture of advocacy and empowerment.
  • Funding and Resource Development: Develop and write funding proposals to secure resources for programs and services, ensuring the organization's sustainability.
  • Quality Assurance and Improvement: Ensure high standards of service delivery through continuous quality improvement processes, monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness and compliance with standards.
  • Policies and Procedures: Develop and update policies to guide service delivery and organizational practices, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and values.
  • Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs to staff and stakeholders, promoting a culture of learning and professional development.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, Social Justice, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in child welfare, advocacy, or a related field, with a proven track record of leadership and service development.
  • Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to work from a trauma-informed and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion lens, with strong advocacy and reconciliation skills, excellent partnership development and system navigation skills, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
