Transportation Manager

Steer Technologies Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Manager to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a strong background in transportation management to take on a leadership role in our logistics and operations department.
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate daily operations and implement improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Monitor departmental performance and provide recommendations for process enhancements.
- Plan and organize daily operations to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
- Plan for changes to schedules and policies to ensure seamless operations.
- Prepare reports for senior management to ensure informed decision-making.
- Recruit and supervise staff to ensure effective team management.
- Train staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Manage finances or budget to ensure effective resource allocation.
- Arrange for shipping documentation and the tracking and tracing of goods in transit.
- Ensure transport compliance with regulations.
- Establish and implement policies and standards for the transportation and storage of goods.
- Negotiate for services and preferential rates with suppliers.
- Oversee the scheduling and dispatching of vehicles and goods.
- Oversee the setting of transportation service rates and monitor revenue.
- Administer programs to promote industrial and commercial business investment in rural and urban areas.
- Organize and maintain inventory.
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption.
- Supervise professional and support staff and students.
- Respond to enquiries from members of the business community concerning development opportunities.
- Recruit and hire staff to meet the needs of the department.
- Provide consulting services to government and other organizations.
- Provide advice on procedures and requirements for government approval of development proposals.
- Plan development projects to meet the needs of the department.
- Perform administrative tasks to support the department.
- Develop venture capital sources to support the department.
- Develop policies to support the department.
- Develop social and economic profiles of an area to encourage industrial and commercial investment.
- Develop and implement business plans to support the department.
- Deliver presentations at conferences, workshops, or symposia.
- Consult with clients after sale to provide ongoing support.
- Conduct surveys and analyze data on the buying habits and preferences of wholesale and retail consumers.
- Conduct comparative research on marketing strategies for industrial and commercial products.
- Conduct social or economic surveys on local, regional, or international areas to assess development of potential and future trends.
- Review and evaluate commercial or industrial development proposals.
- Prepare reports, research papers, educational texts, or articles.
- Conduct analytical marketing studies.
- Design market research questionnaires.
- Evaluate customer service and store environments.
- Design, conduct, and analyze quantitative and qualitative research projects.
- Develop feasibility studies.
- Provide consultation on planning and starting of new businesses.
- Develop marketing strategies.
- Ensure appropriate business/commercial licenses are in place.
- Conduct online marketing, E-commerce, and Website promotions.
- Maintain a database of potential franchisees, real estate locations, and on-line buy/sell Internet sites.
- Develop a portfolio of marketing materials.
- Proficient in MS Office.
Requirements:
- 1 to 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong background in transportation management.
