Job SummaryThis full-time position involves working as a Registered Nurse in the Palliative Care Unit at Lions Gate Hospital. You will be part of an interdisciplinary care team providing holistic care to patients and their families, promoting quality of life, and relieving suffering. The successful candidate will have a strong background in nursing practice, particularly in palliative care, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years' experience in acute medical-surgical settings or a related field, with a strong understanding of palliative care principles and practices. You will also have completed relevant coursework or certifications, such as a Master's degree in Nursing or a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse (CHPCN) designation.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to clients in the Palliative Care Unit, working independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Assess, consult, plan, implement, and evaluate client care needs, addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of care.
- Promote a palliative philosophy that improves the quality of life of clients and their families, relieving suffering and supporting end-of-life care.
- Participate in designated hospital committees, teams, and research projects as assigned, contributing to quality improvement initiatives and advancing palliative care knowledge.
