Job Title: Patient Care Assistant - Behavioural Support

Job Summary:

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides expertise and assistance with personal care and activities of daily living for residents of long-term care homes with behavioural challenges. Working with a team of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses, the PCA enhances the quality of life for residents with responsive behaviors in their own homes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living for residents with behavioural challenges
  • Work collaboratively with Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses to enhance the quality of life for residents
  • Conduct crisis-intervention services to individual residents
  • Provide transitional management between healthcare providers
  • Participate in ongoing training for residents, families, and clinicians

Requirements:

  • Certification as a Personal Support Worker as per the Long Term Care Homes Act and Regulations
  • Current Certificate of Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or willingness to obtain within three months of employment
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable vehicle at all times

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year experience with geriatric clients in Long Term Care Homes
  • Ability to speak another language
  • Experience with quality improvement processes
