HR Business Partner Expert for Operations

HMSHost is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to support our operations at Calgary International Airport (YYC). This senior-most HR position is responsible for a branch or multiple branches with high sales volume within a Region. The successful candidate will provide strategic and technical expertise and advice, working closely with the Regional HR Director to communicate trends, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
About the RoleThe HR Business Partner will be a visible and engaged partner with Operations, having regular and direct contact with operations management and staff. This role involves executing policies, procedures, and strategies as directed by the HRD, as well as developing and administering local HR policies and programs unique to the location.
Key Responsibilities- Support operations management on engagement, retention, training, and discipline issues as they arise, and identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Establish a positive HR presence within the branches and among associates at all levels.
- Direct the activities of assigned HR staff to ensure Associate Relations issues and problems are addressed before their magnitude necessitates escalation.
- Participate in arbitrations, grievances, and contract negotiations, and ensure operations managers understand their CBA.
- Direct the delivery of on-boarding, orientation, and training.
- Regularly communicate with Regional HRD about the state of HR within assigned locations.
- Maintain knowledge of current trends, technical, regulatory, and statutory related to the Human Resources function to ensure delivery of appropriate advice and counsel.
We require a Bachelor's degree or demonstrated equivalent. The successful candidate must have 7-10 years of experience in HR, including 3-5 years of HR management experience, and supervision of other HR staff. A strong working knowledge of employment-related local/state/federal regulations is also necessary. Proficiency with HRIS and business software/systems, as well as excellent problem-solving and writing skills, are required.
Estimated Salary Range$80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience.
