Role and Responsibilities

The Planning and Scheduling Manager will report to the Planning & Schedule Management Lead for the GO Expansion Program and be part of the Integrated Program Delivery Team (IPDT). The role is responsible for delivering and exceeding client expectations in the following areas:

  • Implementing IPD Best Practices in contract management.
  • Engaging key stakeholders in contract transformation under the PDP/IPDT model.
  • Managing IPD practices in procedures, processes, and training for contract management.
  • Managing the change in model and structure related to planning and schedule management among the PDP Commercial Team and Vendor Community.
Specific Responsibilities

The Planning and Scheduling Manager will:

  • Support the review and update of existing planning and schedule processes and procedures based on IPDT model best practices.
  • Support the development and implementation of program-wide project requirements for planning and scheduling to improve consistency and support program delivery.
  • Support the development and deployment of a program contingency management process.
  • Manage planning and schedule management IPDT procedures, systems, and toolsets for program management of contracts across the GO Expansion Program.
  • Support a program-wide view of planning and schedule considerations, ensuring consistency of approach.
  • Support projects and their supply chains to deliver efficiently and effectively, taking a program approach to removing consistent causes of cost and schedule overrun.
  • Manage consistency of delivery approach, standardizing program and project procedures to ensure integration and compliance with statutory and Metrolinx requirements.
  • Manage and provide for 'best for program' decision making by creating the capability of consistent and real-time reporting linked to the program control center.
  • Support program-level risk management, identifying and mitigating risks/issues and optimizing opportunities across all aspects of the program.
  • Support stakeholder engagement at a program level as required by the stakeholder management plan.
Technical Management Expertise

The Planning and Scheduling Manager will provide consistent management in planning and schedule management to program management stakeholders, demonstrating experience in contract administration and contract management of large capital programs.

They will also provide technical expertise in planning and scheduling, supporting the development of innovative, methodical, and robust solutions and procedures to resolve difficult contract issues, disputes, and claims while adhering to policies and contract terms.

Leadership Behavioral Qualities

The Planning and Scheduling Manager will lead by example, taking responsibility for their actions and acting in an ethical, legal, and responsible manner. They will also demonstrate a better perspective, exploring innovative approaches in pursuit of a better way, utilizing new technology, and helping others to adapt.

They will present clearly and communicate effectively, respectfully listening to others and considering all views presented. They will also balance team and individual responsibilities, giving and welcoming feedback, and putting team success above their own interests.

Qualifications

The Planning and Scheduling Manager will have a degree or equivalent with professional work experience in commercial and contract management disciplines. They will also have 10 years of planning and schedule management experience in rail and transit projects.

They will possess technical competencies in IPDT delivery model experience, holding or working towards professional qualification, and knowledge and experience in Power BI.

Employment Terms and Conditions

The Planning and Scheduling Manager will be employed on a permanent basis, located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and will report to the Planning & Schedule Management Lead. The remuneration will be according to the profile.
