Job Summary:

George Brown College is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Part Time User Service Representative. As a key member of our support team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to students, faculty, and staff, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience in our Library Learning Commons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with a wide range of computer software and learning resources, demonstrating basic use and troubleshooting skills.
  • Provide front-line support for Identity Management, verifying user accounts and resolving technical issues.
  • Assist users with setting up their personal laptops and wireless printing in the Library Learning Commons.
  • Recommend software and hardware solutions to support student needs.
  • Provide basic assistance with student administrative systems, online applications, and courses.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and refer complex technical issues to senior technicians.
  • Provide timely and efficient circulation service using our automated library management system.
  • Verify student status and register students in the Library Management System.
  • Perform Photo-ID services, verifying eligibility and producing ID cards.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Two-year certificate or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Technician, or equivalent.
  • Current Comp TIA A+ Certification required.
  • Minimum two years of practical experience in a high-volume customer service environment or IT service environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of office productivity software, wireless technology, and network technologies.
  • Good understanding of WiFi, network technologies, and consumer hardware.
  • Knowledge of social networking sites and web technologies.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Demonstrated excellence in English, verbal and written communications, interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work with limited direction as part of a team.
  • Ability to organize and schedule work despite constant interruptions.
  • Good and accurate keyboarding skills.
  • General understanding of library operations and processes.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 44 lbs.
  • Familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL) is an asset.
  • Effective ability to interact with others and deal with situations in ways that respect diverse backgrounds, experience, and styles.
  • Flexibility in adapting to change and participating in consultative decision-making processes.
