Communications Specialist

The Canadian Cancer Society is seeking a dedicated volunteer to take on the role of Communications Lead for the CIBC Run for the Cure. As a key member of our volunteer team, you will be responsible for promoting the event across multiple channels and ensuring all marketing and communications efforts align with our brand guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute a local marketing and media relations plan to promote the CIBC Run for the Cure.
- Ensure all marketing and communications efforts adhere to the CIBC Run for the Cure Visual Identity Guidelines and CCS Writing Manual.
- Leverage the Media Toolkit to promote the event to local media outlets.
- Collaborate with the Social Media Coordinator to develop a social media strategy and promote the event.
- Take on additional social media responsibilities if the Social Media Coordinator role is vacant.
- A positive attitude and strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Self-motivation and a strong sense of responsibility.
- This is a 6-month commitment from May to October.
- Attend bi-weekly to monthly local committee meetings.
- Independent role work and responsibilities (approximately 4-6 hours per month).
- Availability over the event weekend (October 5 & 6).
