**Job Description**
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our interdisciplinary team at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. As a Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN), you will provide safe, patient-centered care on a 22-bed Older Adult/Geriatric Rehabilitation Psychiatry unit. Your expertise will be applied to achieve excellence in mood disorders, thought disorders, and dementia care. Guided by best practice and AHS policies, you will provide patient- and family-centered care, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team and other programs and services.
You will lead the team and support staff orientation and student learning experiences. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. By applying for this role, you agree to and will become an employee of Recovery Alberta.
**Salary:** $43.82/hour (provisional permit holders will be paid $35.87/hour). Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted according to AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii).
**Required Skills and Qualifications**
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
- If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification
- Experience in mental health (Geriatric Psychiatry) and rehabilitation or related settings
- Strong assessment skills that support a timely response to changes in patient behavior
- Ability to recognize and manage patients in mental health crisis
- Strong communication and leadership skills along with the ability to adapt to meet the needs of the patient
- Strong psychiatric nursing skills such as suicide risk assessment and de-escalation techniques
- Excellent leadership and time management skills
- Proven reliability and dependability
- AMH Connect Care training and current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training preferred
- I.V. certification and current Alaris pump training preferred
