Sinai Health System is seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Laboratory Specialist to join our renowned Pathology and Laboratory Medicine department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Receive, accession, and label surgical specimens, utilizing your attention to detail and knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy.
  2. Evaluate, dissect, and provide gross description and sampling of surgical specimens, applying your understanding of pathology, clinical context, and current protocols.
  3. Sample and aliquot tissue specimens for ancillary studies, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  4. Assist pathologists in the processing of surgical specimens, working collaboratively to achieve high-quality diagnostic outcomes.
  5. Conduct autopsy procedures, including review and summation of patient identifying data, internal and external examination, evisceration, dissection, microdissection, and sampling for histology.
  6. Participate in weekend coverage rotation, providing essential support during critical periods.
  7. Train pathology residents, sharing your expertise and contributing to the development of future professionals.
  8. Troubleshoot various problems, demonstrating your ability to resolve complex issues in a dynamic environment.

Requirements:

  • A MSc/MClSc (Pathologists' Assistant) or BSc with MLT from an accredited educational institution.
  • 2 years recent experience as a Pathologists' Assistant, with a strong track record of performance and attendance.
  • CAP membership and certification, or eligibility for certification.
  • CMLTO registration or ASCP certification, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
