Salary

We offer a competitive compensation package, with an estimated salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, based on the role, skill, effort, responsibility and working conditions.

Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide accurate and timely interpretive and diagnostic specimen testing and reporting.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conducting a wide range of diagnostic and interpretive specimen testing.
  • Prepare and process samples, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.
  • Performing, interpreting and releasing results, while ensuring the confidentiality of patient information.
  • Identifying incidents and non-conformities, participating in the development of effective corrective action plans, escalating as appropriate and driving continuous improvement.
  • Assisting with the evaluation and implementation of new technology.
  • Participating in problem solving in work organization and workflow.
  • Adhering to laboratory safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and quality assurance standards.

Requirements:

  • A college diploma or university degree in Medical Laboratory Science, or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • CMLTO registered and in good standing.
  • Excellent communication skills to enable you to relate with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment while adhering to LifeLabs standards of safety, accuracy and efficiency.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail who demonstrates curiosity.
  • Ability to distinguish multiple colors.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office products, as well as laboratory analyzers.
  • Problem solving skills, including the ability to identify and follow-up on issues.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest standards of safety, patient privacy and confidentiality.
