We're seeking a Data Analyst to join our team at Sun Life Financial. This role will be responsible for the development and delivery of analytical solutions, use cases, and insights to support our data journey and future growth.
Key Responsibilities- Lead sessions with business stakeholders to gather requirements and obtain signoff.
- Produce and maintain business requirements documentation, source to target mappings, and other data-related documentation.
- Translate business requirements into data and reporting solutions.
- Develop, prioritize, and sequence use cases with business stakeholders and a portfolio of initiatives for the Data and Analytics team.
- Build and maintain strong internal networks at all levels of the organization and relationships with other counterparts within the organization.
- Work with stakeholders to draw business insights from analytical outputs and communicate recommendations and data insights.
- Establish automated reporting on key performance metrics (KPIs) and scorecard metrics using Tableau.
- Become a data subject matter expert by working with technology and business partners across the organization.
- Identify and implement ways to increase user knowledge and the value they derive from dashboards.
- Assist with data extracts and analysis as required to support high-priority needs.
We're looking for a versatile and adaptable individual with 5+ years of experience in a Data Analytics role, preferably in the insurance industry. You should have a Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a related field and experience writing complex SQL queries to analyze data and provide results to business users or stakeholders.
You should be comfortable learning new applications and processes quickly with minimal direction and have experience using oral and written communication to share data-driven insights in a clear and succinct manner.
Strong partnering approach with a commitment to meeting business partners' needs and expectations is essential, as well as data visualization/dashboarding with Tableau or PowerBI, data analysis/visualization using MS Excel, data analysis and querying large datasets with SQL, and proficiency with other programming languages such as Python or R.
Able to exercise judgement, set priorities, assess urgency, and provide assessment based on data and analytical reasoning, with a strong problem-solving and critical thinking ability, attention to detail, and commitment to data accuracy.
