About the Role

The Co-operators is seeking an experienced Executive Director, Data Strategy to lead our data management efforts and drive business outcomes. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Data Strategy: Create and execute a data strategy that enables business outcomes, improves decision-making, and drives innovation.
  • Lead Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with technology, business, and analytics functions to drive strategic data integration across lines of business.
  • Establish Data Governance: Develop and implement data governance policies, processes, and standards to ensure data quality, integrity, and trust.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Lead regulatory and compliance programs related to data assets, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Foster collaboration with business stakeholders to drive data-enabled business outcomes and develop reusable data assets.
  • Leadership and Development: Inspire and motivate your leadership team to define and execute strategic objectives, identifying and developing leadership talent.
Requirements
  • 10+ Years of Data Management Experience: Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and executing complex strategic data modernization plans.
  • Post-Secondary Degree in Computer Science or Related Field: In-depth knowledge of cloud-based data platforms, financial data governance, data architecture, or data engineering.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with data regulatory compliance requirements relevant to the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
