About the Role

Sedgman Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in Vancouver. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing engineering services to large and small projects, including site investigations, rehabilitation designs, and development of new structural support concepts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake structural analysis and design tasks for complex mineral processing or heavy industrial structures
  • Work on Canadian and international design projects
  • Produce structural design deliverables, including reports, specifications, drawings, analysis models, and calculations packages
  • Conduct field reviews of existing structures and structures under construction
  • Review and evaluate technical work prepared by junior engineers and designers
  • Collaborate with project teams and coworkers in multi-disciplinary projects
  • Provide guidance and oversight to junior staff working on their projects
  • Work with other disciplines in and across global offices
  • Assist with proposals and estimating of work-hours and fees
  • Assist Design Managers with reporting on design progress
About You
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a Structural Focus
  • Over 5 years of experience in structural engineering in mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial (preferably in North America)
  • Professional Engineering license (P.Eng) desirable
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Experience in design of concrete and steel structures, vibration analysis, and experience with large rotating equipment preferred
  • Detailed knowledge and experience in the application of local and national codes and other legislative requirements
  • Experience and ability in seismic design of structures, ideally with experience in performance-based design and seismic retrofits
  • Ability to perform 3-D structural analysis (linear and nonlinear)
  • Familiar with structural and engineering software like SAP2000 and Mathcad
