About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join our Minerals and Metals Business line in the Vancouver office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing cost-effective structural engineering designs from studies to detail design, tender, and construction in accordance with Canadian Codes and Standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform analysis and design of concrete foundations and steel structures for mining and industrial projects.
  • Prepare specifications, design criteria, scope of work, and material take-off.
  • Act as the discipline lead or point of contact on a project, supervising the work of other engineers and designers on the project team.
  • Ensure that objectives of cost, quality, and time are met.
  • Work with the project team in a multi-disciplinary environment, reporting on progress of his team and deliverables, and provide staffing plans and estimated remaining effort to complete the work.
  • Work directly with drafting staff in order to produce detailed drawing packages.
  • Liaise with client representatives and vendors directly.
  • Perform site visits and inspect existing structures. Perform evaluation and analysis of existing structures for modifications and additions and propose reinforcement solutions.
About You

We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled Senior Structural Engineer with a strong background in structural design of mineral processing plants, material handling, and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Structural engineering from a recognized University and be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) within the Province of BC.

The successful candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in structural design, with a thorough understanding of the design of various building structures and systems for mining projects. Proficiency in design of steel structures, reinforced concrete structures, and various types of heavy concrete foundations for buildings and equipment is essential. An in-depth knowledge and demonstrated experience in design of mining facilities, with a proven ability to conceptualize project layouts, and optimize designs is also required.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for this role. Familiarity with structural dynamics, earthquake engineering, and FEA modelling is considered a strong asset. Proficiency in application of Canadian Codes and Standards, including applicable building codes applicable in design of industrial buildings and site accommodations, is also required.
