Job Description:


The Unit Secretary plays a vital role in maintaining a progressive, efficient, and organized healthcare environment. This position provides clerical and administrative support to nursing staff and other hospital teams, ensuring seamless communication and workflow.



Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain office and hospital equipment, ordering supplies as needed
  • Input data information for surgical ambulatory patient flow, confirming chart completion in EPIC and printing labels
  • Complete patient calls in preparation for care on C5 Procedures and other duties
  • Respond to inquiries via EPIC, phone, email, and in-person
  • Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and families


Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent education
  • Working knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Prior experience in an administrative/clerical role, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Keyboarding skills (40 wpm)
  • Experience with computer applications, including Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Able to deescalate situations effectively
  • Demonstrates Customer Service skills
  • Proven attendance record
  • Understanding and compliance with patient and staff safety policies
  • Ability to perform essential job duties
  • Empathy and commitment to providing an exceptional experience

Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in perioperative surgical flow or Surgical Ambulatory Flow

This is a full-time position with opportunities for growth and development within the organization. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide excellent patient care and support.



Estimated Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000 per year
