Job Description

The Prince George Native Friendship Center is seeking a Community Outreach Specialist to provide outreach and support services to adults with diverse abilities. This role requires working in a team environment, providing individualized support, crisis intervention, referrals to community programs, skill training, and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide outreach services in the community, including evenings and weekends;
  • Support individuals with adverse abilities in achieving inter-dependent living, employment readiness, job search, and social development;
  • Collaborate with the Life Skills Worker team to provide comprehensive support services;
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as required;
  • Participate in on-call crisis response system.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Community Social Services, Social Work, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Experience working with Aboriginal groups/communities in a cultural context;
  • Certifications: First Aid, Class 4 Driver's License, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Suicide Intervention, and Food Safe;
  • Ability to undergo a successful criminal record search;
  • Sensitivity to Indigenous history and culture, and understanding of complex populations;
  • Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends;
  • Preference given to qualified applicants of Indigenous ancestry.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Starting wage: $24-$28/hour based on qualifications and experience;
