Dementia Support and Education Specialist

The Alzheimer Society of B.C. is seeking a highly skilled Dementia Support and Education Specialist to join our team in Prince George. As a key member of our regional team, you will play a vital role in delivering support and education services to individuals living with dementia and their caregivers.
Key Responsibilities- Program Development and Delivery: Develop and implement support and education programs for people living with dementia and their caregivers, ensuring that they meet the expectations of service delivery and align with our strategic plan.
- Community Engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals, allied health professionals, and other stakeholders through presentations, informal contacts, and information exchanges to build and grow our referral network.
- Client Support: Provide one-to-one telephone support to people with dementia and their caregivers, offering them access to our information, education, and support services.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate client records and statistical reports according to our policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Education: Post-secondary education or relevant degree in health or social agency-related functions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a health or social agency-related function, with extensive knowledge of and experience with Alzheimer's disease/dementia and caregiving issues.
- Cultural Competence: Knowledge of northern communities and ability to support and participate in meaningful engagement of Indigenous people and their communities through culturally sensitive outreach and collaboration.
- Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, able to work independently, with strong attention to detail.
- Competitive Salary: $52,500 - $60,000 per annum.
- Paid Time Off: 4 weeks' vacation, 2 personal days, and 13 paid public holidays.
