Job Summary

The Dexterra Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our kitchen, including menu planning, inventory management, and staff supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance to kitchen staff, ensuring that all food safety protocols are followed and that high-quality dishes are prepared and presented.
  • Develop and implement menus that meet the needs of our clients and guests, while also ensuring that they are cost-effective and profitable.
  • Manage kitchen inventory and supplies, ensuring that all necessary items are on hand and that waste is minimized.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, providing feedback and coaching to help them improve their skills and performance.
  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment and facilities are maintained in good working order, and that all necessary repairs and maintenance are completed in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with other members of the culinary team to ensure that all aspects of kitchen operations are running smoothly and efficiently.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Proven track record of success in menu planning, inventory management, and staff supervision.
  • Advanced food safety certification (e.g. SafeCheck, HACCP).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire kitchen staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize tasks and responsibilities effectively.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
