Job Summary

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Social Services Worker to join our team in the Department of Family Services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing essential services to individuals and families in our communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide prevention and intervention services to individuals and families in need
  • Support the development and implementation of community-based programs and services
  • Collaborate with community partners, including the RCMP, Mental Health, Medical Personnel, Education, and Justice
  • Provide liaison services to the community and other stakeholders

Requirements

  • Diploma in Social Work or related field, plus 1 year of practical child protection experience
  • Valid class 5 driver's license or ability to obtain within 4 months of hire
  • Vulnerable Sector check
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Child and Family Services Appointment

Language and Cultural Competence

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English, and French. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages is an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.

Eligibility

Priority will be given to Nunavut Inuit who self-identify as being enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement in accordance with the Priority Hiring Policy.
