Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and caring individual to join our team as a Recreation Team Member at Schlegel Villages. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality recreational programming to our residents, fostering exemplary relationships, and advocating for residents' individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and promote our resident-centered social culture, delivering recreational programs that contribute to residents' holistic health care goals.
  • Work collaboratively with residents, families, and the Village team to understand individual needs and advocate for participation in care decisions.
  • Assist in planning and implementing programs that promote physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and cognitive growth for residents.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in or completed a diploma or degree in recreation/leisure studies and/or gerontology from a community college or university.
  • Excited by our objectives, Village philosophy, and family values that shape all aspects of life in a Schlegel Village.
  • Display a caring and respectful attitude toward residents, families, and team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the five domains in Therapeutic Recreation that contribute to an individual's health.
  • Knowledge of recreational therapy practices, methods, techniques, and opportunities to improve residents' well-being and holistic health.
  • Understanding of the relevant sections of the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007.
