Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Counsel to join our team in Montreal. The successful candidate will work on a variety of contract and strategic initiatives in relation to regulatory aviation law, competition law, trade and economic sanctions, anti-corruption laws, and international matters. In addition, the candidate will work on alliance and strategic partnerships such as interlining, code shares, and joint ventures and projects having regulatory implications such as distribution and marketing initiatives and international country start-ups.

Requirements
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a major law firm or an established in-house legal department.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, good business judgment, and the ability to assess legal risk.
  • Strong drafting, negotiating, and analytical skills, with the ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
  • A strong background in competition, administrative, or international law, with experience in regulated environments.
  • A passion for learning and gaining a deep understanding of the business to effectively support strategies and objectives.
Qualifications
  • A track record demonstrating drive for results, urgency, and motivation towards achievement of goals.
  • The ability to understand, anticipate, and meet client needs, effectively communicating and remaining cognizant of related risks.
  • Strong advocacy and written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey messages and thoughts as a subject-matter expert on specialized and complex areas of law.
  • Support for innovation, adaptability, and flexibility to work effectively in a context of rapid change.
  • Capacity to work autonomously and under pressure, displaying composure in difficult situations.
