Job Overview:

This exciting opportunity is available at Standard Aero for a highly skilled and experienced In-House Counsel Lead to join the Aviation Sector team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal advice and support to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide counsel and advice on complex aviation law matters, including OEM agreements, service center agreements, and intellectual property licensing agreements.
  • Manage in-house litigation matters, including legal research, memorandum drafting, motion practice, and e-discovery.
  • Lead sector merger and acquisition activities, from pre-buy counseling and due diligence to post-close integration.
  • Train and mentor sector staff counsel on legal, contract administration, and subcontract administration responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with various business functions to achieve business-positive results, including contract negotiations, strategies, actions, and priorities.
  • Analyze and provide guidance on FAA, EASA, and international equivalent regulations.
  • Implement continuous improvement methods to develop and enhance departmental processes and policies related to contract management and administration functions.
  • Apply risk management strategies and analysis to all aspects of the business.

Requirements:

  • JD and active membership in a state bar in the U.S. or a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized institution.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, accounting; or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years in private practice or in-house experience (in-house experience preferred).
  • Aviation law experience a plus.

Estimated Salary Range:

$120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
