About the Opportunity

Urban Systems, a leading employee-owned interdisciplinary community consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our Vancouver office. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with Indigenous communities in BC, leveraging your skills and passion to drive meaningful change.

We are looking for a talented professional with a strong background in civil engineering, who shares our values and is committed to delivering high-quality services to our clients. In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Honing your civil engineering skills through the application of theory and practical experience.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with Indigenous clients, providing them with access to funding opportunities and diverse services offered by Urban Systems.
  • Collaborating with project leaders, clients, contractors, and internal teams to deliver projects that meet the needs of our clients and their communities.
  • Preparing technical reports, plans, studies, proposals, and presentations.
  • Couching and mentoring younger professionals, while contributing to the growth and development of our team.
  • Working collaboratively with design teams to develop design drawings, construction details, specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents.
  • Identifying and pursuing market opportunities, practice planning, and team development through collaboration with our diverse and interdisciplinary team.

To succeed in this role, you will possess:

  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience as a registered or eligible professional member with EGBC.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, including water systems, sanitary systems, land/subdivision development, and stormwater management.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare budgets and cost estimates, work plans, and scope of work preparations.
  • Familiarity with Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) funding models.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in fast-paced, multi-year projects.
  • A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
  • A keen interest in coaching and mentoring others.
  • The ability to thrive in a self-directed work environment and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year, based on a 40-hour work week. The salary is negotiable based on your skillset and experience.
