Job Title: Shift Superintendent

Pembina Pipeline Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shift Superintendent to join our team at the Vancouver Wharves Terminal. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our terminal, while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the terminal, including safety, quality, and environmental compliance;
  • Develop and implement operational plans and procedures to ensure efficient and safe terminal operations;
  • Manage and supervise a team of employees, including foremen and longshore personnel;
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure seamless terminal operations;
  • Monitor and report on terminal performance, including safety and environmental metrics;
  • Develop and implement corrective actions to address any safety or environmental incidents;
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including those related to safety, quality, and environmental protection;
  • Participate in the development and implementation of terminal business objectives and strategies;
  • Provide leadership and guidance to employees to ensure a positive and inclusive work environment;
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with union representatives and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of progressive management/supervisory experience in operations management of unionized work sites;
  • Relevant degree in business, engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent experience and education;
  • Working knowledge of bulk terminal operations and related safety procedures, standards, and environmental regulations;
  • Proven supervisory experience effectively managing people and assets in a manner that ensures overall success and promotes a team attitude and positive working environment;
  • Experience related to goal setting, performance management, incident investigation, work permits, developing written procedures, Job Hazard Analysis, Dual Verification, operations and maintenance safe work procedures, fiscal responsibility, and budget planning;
  • Environmental regulations and compliance experience;
  • Effective communication skills, good business acumen, demonstrated leadership capability, strong organizational and problem-solving experience, and knowledge of cost analysis and control methodology;
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook;
  • Well-balanced interpersonal skills and demonstrated verbal and written communication skills;
  • Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks are essential;
  • Problem solver with the ability to find resolutions and make critical decisions;
  • Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision;
  • Flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment and consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/attitude with co-workers, clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies;
  • Able to work shifts and alternate shift schedules to provide 24/7 terminal management.

This position is considered "Safety Sensitive" so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing. You may also be required to provide a Driver's Abstract.

BC Pay Transparency Requirement: Pembina offers a total rewards package that includes base salary, short-term incentive plans, and other components. Base salary is expected to be between $154,800.00 and $172,000.00 depending on candidate experience and qualifications, while the total value of base salary, short-term incentive plans, and other components is expected to be between $195,260 and $215,900. Please note that the actual value of total package may vary.
