Ojibiikaan Indigenous Cultural Network is an Indigenous-led nonprofit that fosters cultural exchange and land-based programming in Toronto and the surrounding region.

As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development and implementation of mobile land-based programming that promotes Indigenous cultural awareness and understanding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and facilitate mobile land-based activities for children and their families across Toronto;
  • Design and schedule engaging, hands-on, and culturally relevant activities that respond to the needs of families;
  • Collaborate with partner agencies to deliver collaborative programming;
  • Support community outreach and consultation sessions, as required;
  • Document weekly activities, prepare reports, and contribute to donor reporting;
  • Assist with project evaluation tools, such as outcome measurement and participant evaluation forms;

Requirements:

  • Self-identify as First Nations, Metis, or Inuit;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) or equivalent degree/diploma in social work or related field;
  • 1-3 years of experience working in social services or childcare environment;
  • Minimum 1-year experience delivering family services to the Indigenous community (preferred);
  • Experience working with Indigenous children, youth, and families in an urban setting;

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in outreach, facilitating workshops, and delivering presentations;
  • Experience working with Indigenous food systems, planting techniques, traditional ecological knowledge, and/or hands-on gardening;
  • Active member in traditional healing (asset);

What We Offer:

  • Full-time contract position (September 2024 to September 2025) with possibility of extension;
  • Salary range: $47,000-$51,000 (depending on experience);
  • Opportunity to work with a dynamic Indigenous-led organization;
