Job Title: Healthcare Leader for Indigenous HealthWe are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to join our team as a Healthcare Leader for Indigenous Health. This role will be instrumental in driving our efforts to improve healthcare outcomes for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and vision to advance our Indigenous health strategy, building meaningful relationships with Indigenous governments, organizations, and communities. They will work closely with our team to develop and implement plans, budgets, and engagement strategies that promote cultural safety, humility, and reciprocity.
This includes overseeing the development of core indicators for measuring cultural safety in Canada's health systems, identifying and developing strategies for safe and appropriate First Nations, Inuit, and Métis identification in health system data, and providing expertise and advice on Indigenous partnerships, health, and data.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the evolution and implementation of our Indigenous health strategy, ensuring alignment with our mandate and commitment to cultural safety and humility.
- Develop and nurture relationships with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis governments, organizations, and communities, engaging in meaningful dialogue and collaboration.
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to a small dynamic team, fostering a positive working environment and promoting staff development, engagement, and retention.
- Oversee the development and implementation of plans, budgets, and engagement strategies that promote cultural safety, humility, and reciprocity.
- Act as a media spokesperson, participating in key knowledge exchange opportunities and supporting the implementation of our Indigenous health strategy.
- Postgraduate degree in Indigenous Health, a health discipline, public administration, or a related field.
- 7-10 years of progressive senior management experience in Indigenous health, health information, research, or related fields, including demonstrated experience in successful staff management and development.
- Strong understanding of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis health and wellness contexts, including Indigenous governments, organizations, and agencies, and of respectful and appropriate approaches to engagement.
- Expert knowledge of contemporary and historical context influencing First Nations, Inuit, and Métis research and data governance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to think strategically and influence health system change.
- Able to travel when required.
- Preference will be given to self-identified First Nations, Inuit, or Métis candidates.
The salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, commensurate with experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a generous retirement plan.
